SummaryThe Cyber Security Analyst reports to the Cyber Security Lead Analyst and is responsible for monitoring the FAA NAS Cybersecurity infrastructure and the review/development of procedures and processes. The successful analyst must have a strong desire to solve customer problems by applying analytical skills and writing abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for direct customer interaction and high-level management interface. The analyst will support 24/7 operations and will be part of an expanding team of highly technical professionals. Job Description Full time position to provide Security Operations Center (SOC) support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Typical duties and responsibilities include the following: Perform information systems security (ISS) monitoring and event detection for FAA National Airspace system assets. Monitor numerous sources of collected security data including system security event logs, system Internet Protocol (IP) data flows, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) alerts and payload, and system performance monitoring services. Coordinate with other NAS monitoring entities to obtain all required event information and full situational awareness. Perform security event correlation and risk determination functions to define event response needs. Tools: ArcSight Command Center (SIEM), Splunk, ArcSight Logger, Remedy Ticketing System, Wireshark, PCAP.Perform NAS system security event response functions. Use information provided via event monitoring and detection to coordinate FAA responses to resolved detected events. Establish and maintain security event tickets throughout the event lifecycle. Coordinate with applicable stakeholders to develop security event remediation strategies and timelines. Conduct security event telephone conferences as required to provide situational awareness to appropriate entities. Perform upward reporting activities for events as needed.Experience with Incident Response and Detection best practices (someone who can step up and lead the analysts in the event of a security incident)Technical enough to be able to review analyst work for QA(daily oversight and accountability) and sit at the desk as neededSOC and development experience a plus. We need someone who can envision where we need to be 1y, 3y, 5y from now and develop a plan on how we achieve those goals.Job Requirements8+ years of direct SOC experience (FAA Experience a real plus)BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field;IP network management experience, SOC experience, and experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems a plus.Active Secret Security Clearance is required.Security certifications considered a plus, such as:CERT Certified Incident HandlerGCIH or Certified Intrusion HandlerGCIA or Certified Intrusion AnalystCISSPSecurity +Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)Location: Vint Hill, VAStrong oral communications and written skills are required, must have the ability to interact with FAA personnel on a daily basis. Job location is at the FAA Vint Hill facility in Warrenton, VA. Job requires the potential for shift work. Schedule This position currently requires a 5-day onsite/5-day offsite arrangement.
